Which O'Hanlon family are you referring to?My husband is descended from Patrick O'Hanlon (changed name to Hanlon in the early 1800's when the Irish were being persecuted). He came from Ireland with his parents and brother, James. They settled in Franklin County, PA about 1770 and later the two sons fought in the American Revolutionary War for which they were given land in what is now West Virginia.Patrick eventually sold that land and moved across the Ohio River into Washington Co, OH while James relocated to NJ where I have lost track of him.

If you are researching this family, I would like confirmation on the maiden name of Patrick's wife, Margaret.Hubby and I went to the place in County Cork where we think they sailed from, but could not view the records because we did not know the father's first name or the village where they lived.I believe the father's first name was Richard because both sons named their first son Richard.I have been told that Margaret'sname was Bannon or Brannon, but I was also told that she was a widow when Patrick married her and that may have been the surname of her first husband.Since this marriage took place in PA, I know there are no records in Ireland, but perhaps you will have better luck in learning the first names of Patrick and James' parents. That would be an interesting thing to validate.

Are you the Tom O'Hanlon who is descended from Richard (O) Hanlon and Sarah Jane Joy?if so, we have corresponded in the past.I probably told you my hubby is also descended from those Joys on his mother's side of the family which makes you doubly related.
