Searchable online copy of Hanna of Castle Sorbie

By Jerry Hanna March 24, 2013 at 07:05:20

Apologies if this information has already been made public
but I've recently found something on the web that may be
of interest to my fellow Hanna/Hannah researchers.

There is an searchable online copy of "Hanna of Castle
Sorbie, Scotland, and descendants" at the following site.

http://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/005695324http://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/005695324

You cannot view the text due to copyright restrictions,
however you are able to SEARCH the text for specific names
or words and it will return the page number where the name
or word is to be found in the book.

I have seen copies of the book and the major complaint most
people have with it is that it is not indexed ( at least the copies I've seen were not ).

This way you can do an online search to determine
if the name you are looking for is in the book before you
drive to wherever the nearest copy is.

Be aware this is a typical search engine and that the results can be confusing.

An example would be a search I made for Captain Patrick Hanna,
when I entered "Captain Patrick" WITHOUT the
quotation marks I received hundreds of matchs for pages
that had both the words Captain and Patrick on them.
I then searched "Captain Patrick" WITH the quotation
marks and the results were 3 or 4 pages where the word
Captain was immediately followed by the word Patrick.

Hope this is some use!
