I've tried to take a few of the conflicting issues and justapose the info on a spread-sheet, one or more columns per source with ancestors above, descendants below, source info in top 1 or 2 rows.As much as practical, I tried to line up what seemed to be the same individual in the same row all across, inserting stars as place-holders and noting "son of x".In a few places I have siblings separated with colons and commas crammed into a single cell. And then I grabbed a screen image of it and posted that on the web and one can use the scroll bars to move about. ("Elizabeth" sometimes looks like "Blizabeth".) http://www.kermitrose.com/ancestors.htmlhttp://www.kermitrose.com/ancestors.html click "Conundrums" near the top.
I'd started it when trying to sort out whether Patrick or Alexander married Anne McKie/Mackie/M'Kie.
But then I'm also unsure whether Ethe was a separate person from Odo.There were Scottish people with a name that was variously spelled as Aedh/ Aodh/ Eth.And right now, I'm seeing Ethe/Ethie in only one on-line source as a separate person from Odo.
Now, some of the confusions appear to be individuals placed in the wrong branch, so in a couple cases I try to follow the info for branches from one source (hence multiple columns for that source). There seems to be some confusion between the continuing Sorbie line and the Kirkdale branch. And then some of the names were used so frequently -- Patrick, Alexander, John, Donald, Robert.
In some cases, the names of the wives help sort it out a bit... maybe.
But still not sure which to choose as "most likely correct" based on available info, so feed-back would be appreciated.
