I am 'back again', reading this message you had posted concerning the Boone Colony. It really fascinates me; I have tried Googling this history but I am finding very scanty information on the families involved. It does appear to have been a religious movement however; perhaps by living with hardship and poor sanitation is how they contracted T.B.The notes are so brief in this history, our Hansford's are not one of the families mentioned. But I think I am soon going to devote myself to reading the history of Kentucky and what went on during the mid-late 1700's since so many of my ancestors migrated there during that time period. I am also trying to establish a time-line. Since we know that William and Mary Sarah died in August and September of 1777, obviously they had been in the Kentucky territory sometime before that. However, I do know that Kentucky was not made a state until 1792, so technically wherever the Boone Colony was located, it was still in Virginia. Also, I am a little confused as to when their sons William and Thomas migrated there; I thought it was probably around the time Kentucky was admitted to the union or afterwards, because William and Thomas both were paying taxes and showing evidence of living in the Washington/Russell County area of Virginia until around 1797 or 1798. I also am thinking that perhaps Benjamin, already living with his older brother Thomas, then went to Kentucky the same time they did of course. I know that William (son of William, Jr.) was in the American Revolution, so I am assuming he was deployed in different places at that time. I also read where he did go to Kentucky with Captain Billy Bush, and I am assuming this was with the same wagon train with his parents. I am just trying to establish where everyone was between 1777 and 1797, as there is a twenty year time lapse there. Their older cousin Benoni appears to have been living in Georgia when he married Grace Proctor, and he finished raising Col. John and his sister Sarah. Did they later then, move into Kanhawa Co., W. Virginia, after first living in Georgia??
