I am posting to see if anyone knows of or is aware of a Hansford and Walker Family connection.
My ggg grandfather was Hansford D. Walker, born 10 Nov. 1809, probably in Barnwell County, South Carolina. He died 18 Feb. 1864 in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.Hansford D. Walker married Elizabeth Myers, born 19 April 1813 in Union County, Tennessee. They married on 8 Sept. 1830 in Lawrence County, Mississippi.Elizabeth Myers Walker died 27 Oct. 1894 in Grant Parish, Louisiana.
Hansford D. Walker and Elizabeth Myers Walker had nine children.Their fourth child and second son was my gg grandfather Wiley P. Walker, born 12 May 1842 in Scott County, Mississippi and died 29 February 1924 in Grant Parish, Louisiana.Wiley Walker married Martha Amanda Newman (1845 - 1919) in about 1864 in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.Their third child and second son was my great grandfather, William Hansford Walker (1869 - 1926)
Over the years many people have researched and continue to research Hansford D. Walker. As of the present time, no one has been able to find a positive/solid link to exactly who his parents and/or siblings were.At times it seems like Hansford Walker just hatched out of thin air as nothing on his origins seem to exist! There is a possible connection to a Laben/Labon Walker being his father, but no solid evidence.I have hoped to have at least been able to discover the identity of a brother or sister, but no luck there either.Again, absolutely nothing on parents or siblings.
Hansford migrated from the South Carolina area to the Mississippi Territory by 1830 where he married Elizabeth Myers. The family stayed in Mississippi, living at various times in Lawrence, Scott & Simpson Counties, until 1859 or 1860 when they moved to central Louisiana in what is now Grant and Rapides Parishes (Counties).
If someone researching the Hansford Family line knows of a Walker connection, please let me know. I'm not sure if there is one, but with the name "Hansford" showing up in two of my direct relatives there's a possibility.I think it's also quite possible that Hansford D. Walker's family may have come from North Carolina or Virginia prior to settling in South Carolina.Any and all information or suggestions is most welcome and appreciated. Please contact me at email@example.com and thanks in advance.
