The only Dickinson involved in the "Christiana Riot" of that name was Dickinson Gorsuch whose uncle Edward Gorsuch from Maryland was the slave-owner who came after escaped slaves in Lancaster, PA, who were protected by local Quakers. In the fight that ensued Edward was killed and Dickinson wounded. Castner Hanway came to aid the Blacks and was tried for Treason against the US. He was acquitted and the other 27 men, 25 Blacks and 2 Whites were released. The Christiana Riot has been considered as r=the first battle of the Civil War. There is likely a connection to the Dickinson family, but I don't know what it would be.
