Re: Margaret Harbridge of Pennsylvania
I'm trying to help a friend find her bio. mother. Of course the last name was Harbridge. My friends bio. mother left her at St. Vincents Orphanage in downtown Phila. Penna. St. Vincents would only give her the last name of her mother with the story of; "The father of the child went into the service and had no inkling of the child even existing, so she gave her up for adoption (reluctantly) at the age of 6 weeks with a given name *****Christine****".
However, they did give her, her grd fathers name as James Harbridge who died around the time she was born, which was July of 1943, he was 42 yrs. old this would place him being born around the 1900's somewhere. Her adopted parants were told her family came from out west.
I found this site so i thought i would post a query for her.
She wrote to every Harbridge she could find in the USA.Some answered, some didn't. The one's that did were very nice.Being's this is not a very common name in the USA I'd bet my last dollar that most of the Harbridge's are related one way or another.
There's a strong posibiliy that her real mom could still be alive, with her age being about 76 or 78.She would be very thankfull for any information.
I did a Senneff family search on my husbands side and sure enough most of them are related the earliest being born in the late 1600's.
Hoping to hear form you and good luck in your search
