Re: Willaim Hardeman's Indian Wife

I have been looking for a Cherokee or part Cherokee Hardeman, Mary Alabama (not positive of middle name, but she was born in AL in 1837). Do you have dates or places? I don't know anything about Mary's parents, but she married James Jackson Davis. My husband's father told a cousin of his a year or two before he died and my husband found out after his father's funeral that his greatgrandmother was Cherokee. When you look at pictures of her children and grandchildren or at some of the family members, you can see it. But my husband's family was not close and no one talked about it. I think some cousins deny it even now. I think it's a terrible pity the family never knew or acknowledged that part of their heritage.
Is it possible his Hardemans and yours are related?
