Hardeman Family of Elbert / Oglethorpe Co., Ga
I'l looking for informaton on Elizabeth (I. or J.) Hardeman / Hardiman who m. Thomas B. Clark on April 12, 1855 in Elbert Co., Ga.The couple was counted in Elbert co. on the 1860 census w/ no children.Elizabeth was b. ca. 1831/32 in Georgia. Can anyone identify her parents?
Early Elbert Co. deeds (late 1820's) include a few listings for a Joel Hardeman (of Elbert Co.) and a John Hardeman (of Oglethorph; another John Hardeman (of Morgan Co., Ga). I have also found a reference to Joel of Oglethorpe ca. 1837.
Early Elbert Co. marriages include:
Joel Hardeman m. Elizabeth B. Upshaw, Dec. 5, 1825
Charles Hardieman m. (Mrs.) Betty Cook, Oct. 31, 1820
There may be a connection to Hardemans in Oglethorpe Co., Ga. "Oct. 18, 1834, Betty Hardman of Oglethorpe Co., Ga. to Benjamin Burch of Elbert Co.... her dower.... she then being Betty Cook by virtue of the last will & testament of Francis Cook, decd, who was the husband of Betty...." etc.
I have lost track of Elizabeth and her husband, Thomas B. Clark.Could not find them on the 1870 Elbert Co. census. If anyone has information on this couple, I would appreciate the help.
Thank you.
