Since I first posted the original message, I have obtained a copy of Eleazar Hardeman Craig's family bible that shows that EH Craig's mother's name was Martha Dupuy Craig, born 1803 or 1806. I also found from an unconfirmed source that Eleazar Hardeman's wife, Elizabeth Foster, parents were James Foster of Amelia Co. VA and Martha Dupuy of Goochland County, VA. I have also found that these Foster's migrated to the same Watauga Settlement, NC where Thomas Hardeman and his family were living. James and Martha Foster had a daughter , Elizabeth Foster,born abt. 1775. I believe that it is highly likely that this is the same Elizabeth Foster that married Eleazar Hardeman abt. 1800.It would explain the source of the names of Eleazar Hardeman's children,James Foster Hardeman and Martha Dupuy Hardeman,
I would be interested in having any information that you have about James Foster Hardeman's family. I only have that he married Mary Kelly. Does this agree with your records and do you have the details of decendecy of this line??Please reply to my email address.
