Gayle,

I do believe I have found one of the sons in the 1880 census living with Sarah Randall Hardeman.

First let me tell you what I have found online. It seems that John and Sarah had a daughter Sue Kyle Hardeman in 1862.Sue died in 1893, but she did marry. Her husband was Joseph Southwick. They married in Galveston. They had a daughter, Sue Kyle Southwick, born in 1889.

You will find Sarah Randall Hardeman in 1880 living with her mother Sarah Randal in Brazos, Texas. Also living with them are Susie (Sue Kyle, daughter of John and Sarah Hardeman) and Tom P Hardeman (age 30).

Tom has to be her stepson....

Now, for the rest of the story.... after Sue Kyle Hardeman died, her daughter Sue Kyle Southwick lived with her grandmother Sarah Randall Hardeman until Sarah died.I find them in the following census info:

1900:Alvin, Brazoria, Texas
1910:Alvin, Brazoria, Texas
1920:Raliegh, Wake, North Carolina

Sarah died 9 July 1922 (North Carolina Death Collection)

I find Sue Kyle Southwick in 1930 in Greensboro, NC at the age of 41, single and working as a Music Teacher.I do not find her in the NC death index, so she may have moved or married late in life.
