Re: Hardway family - Peter's Creek, WV
Mariah was the youngest child of Jacob Hardway and Elizabeth Sparks. She is in the 1860 Census Nicholas County, VA three months old.
Jacob b.1818? probably Nicholas County, VA d.12 Sep 1889.Elizabeth Sparks b. 1818? m. abt 1840? no other data since this is part of my family. 1860 Census shows a Polly Sparks living with family probably her mother. George and his sons had land on Peters Creek.I know of one deed that shows Jacob buying that land from my ggrandfather Andrew, Jacob's brother.Jacob's father was George Hardway b.1779? Washington County, MD d. 1850's Nicholas County, VAMother was Frances Lilly b. 1 Jul 1789? VA m. 3 Feb 1816 Kanawha County, VA.
George was the son on George Hardway (Hartweg)b.? d. Jul 1815? George may have been born in Germany and arrived inPhil. PA on 1 Oct 1754 aboard the Phoenix. If this isn't him then it is his father. George did serve in the Rev. War in the Washington County, MD MIlitia. Wife was Susannah Winter? m. ?George and Susannah had ten children 5 boys and 5 girls. All of the boys have living offspring. Most probably still live in WV.
Frances Lilly is suppose to be the daugther of William Lilly.I have yet to find any source to support this but everthing points to him.Frances b. in VA probably Botetourt Co. VA, although everyone else will tell you Frederick County, VA.d. I believe abt 1869 in Nicholas Co. WV.
William Lilly was c. 1747 in Burrough Green, Cambrideshire, England. d. abt 1834 Nicholas Co. VA. m.Fanny Ambrose b. 25 Sep 1755? d.?Fanny is still alive in the 1830's census for Nicholas County or William remarried because there is a 60-70 year old woman living with him then. William applied for A Rev. War. Pension just before he died.He was denied because they thought he looked to young to have been in the war.I am working on a paper which supports his claim. My problem is proving that Frances is William's daugther.
The information with a question mark has not been proved. It is data that I have picked up from the Internet and others.Dates without ? I have documentation to support.
