I have a ship record of Ludwig's travel to the U.S. from Germany and also a record of his request to go to America which states that he has siblings (plural) already in the U.S. willing to sponser him.It also lists his parents, who are deceased.I have not been able to get information from Germany about the family, mostly because I do not read or speak German so it slows down my search.I also learned that Caroline Schmidt came over with her family when she was very young and that both men came to work the coal mines which they had done in Germany.

Sorry I do not have any more info, and if you have learned any more, I would appreciate hearing from you.
