Harlan/Lincoln connection

I found a couple of sites that list Mary Eunice Harlan married to Pres. Lincoln's son Robert Todd Lincoln.
Going back they list a male John Sharp as her great grand father married to Elizabeth Harlan as her great grand mother. Can anyone explain this relationship to me? How can a John Sharp and Eliz. Harlan have a child with the last name Harlan?
