according to the Harlan Genealogy book
Silas Harlan was the son of Elizabeth Harlan and John Sharp.Silas, her son, was adopted by his grandfather; and took the name of Silas Harlan (No. 677) of the Harlan Genealogy book.
Silas em. in 1806 with his grand parents George and Margery Baker Harlan to Ohio and settled in what is now Warren Co. He m. there Jan. 20, 1818, Mary Conley.
Hope this explains the Silas Sharp being known as Silas Harlan.
