Since the mid 1990's focus.

Yes ... have reviewed many of the 'documentation' lines you suggested ... years ago.Unfortunately all tend to leave a big gap between the spellings you mention ... which I also research.

There is a so-called 'researcher' from Abbeville that posted to me in those early years the 3-brothers I mentioned previously. However, as with most of her postings, whenever a source or documentation is requested ... the request goes ignored ... and when cornered she expresses nothing but vitriolic comments.

Nevertheless, after hours and hours of searching ... and study ... of much of the upper SC records; census, land grants, etc., I have come to the 98% position that the HARLAND-HARLIN-HARLING-etc. are one and the same family; at least in upper SC region.

There are too many referances of named individuals that meandered down south ... some thru the Cherokee lands and others ... who then, with what appears to be age connections, etc. ... and ultimately ... IMO ... further meandered over into the upper district region of the Granville District-96th District-Edgefield District-etc.

So while I cannot lay my hands on a solid source either myself, until someone does succesfully do so to prove otherwise ... I have decided to show my line as from the brother line that came south ... thru Tennessee and the Cherokee lands.

Incidentally, my 1764 lines from SC were intended to be used, by the British and the aristrocrats in Charles Towne ... as a buffer zone between the Cherokees and the aristrocrats.Fortunately they succeeded ... made peace with the Cherokees ... and over decades and centuries, inhabited many regions of the southern portion of the Republic ... from Carolina to California.

At the same time, due to this process, others from 'up north' ... like the HARLIN-HARLOAND-etc. ancestors strongly appear to have joined them in the settlement process ... IMPO of course.
