Re: Origin of Harris Family
Yet another feeble attempt to avoid the issue of providing
us with documentation of James hargraves claims of ancestry.
This was a 5 year old discussion about the tradition that a
John Harris had a mistress Sarah Tyner who he mentioned in
his will of 1712. Up until the DNA testing was done, the
last published discussion of the relationship between John
Harris and Sarah Tyner was in "The Five Thomas Harrises of
Isle Of Wight County, Virginia" by John Brayton, in the
appendix to the 1995 book. While making a conclusion that Sarah Tyner was the mistress of John Harris, the appendix ended with the statement that more work was needed on this interesting family. It was my own letter to John Brayton that informed him that the DNA testing of a Tyner descendant was an exact match to descendants of this John Harris's brother.
On the contrary, it is postings of James Hargraves praising the books and research of others, holding them in high regards, but it is quite evident that he takes them as pure gospel and doesn't do the research to document his own
claims. I had problems with some of the information in the
Robert Harris and John Brayton books so I took the time to
write to the authors to find out why they had made certain
assumptions about the actual documentation.
Your opinion of me means absolutely NOTHING, so how about
getting back to the matter of Harris research and providing
us with some citations to back up your high and mighty claims. No doubt this will be followed by more slanderous
attacks again without any proper citations for his own work.
