Re: GOLD RUSH HARRYMAN
I had an Uncle John born in the mid 1800's, his brother (my grandfather) was born 1851. Uncle John explored the hinterlands of Alaska, was quite a rounder, and supposedly found three fortunes in gold in Alaska. The family grubstaked him to retrieve two of them, which he squandered on women and wine. He died broke cause the family wouldn't send him back for the third time. I have no proof, only family stories, oral, from my relatives, now all dead. I've been looking for information on him, to prove or disprove the stories. That's how I stumbled on this site.
From the dates you've given me, I'd offer my John is probably a generation later than yours. although there were 9 children in the family, and he could have been in late teens at the time.
