Harsen - Van Beuren NY/NJ connections
Richard Bussell(e) married Mary E. Van Buren btwn 1845 and 1855 in NY (exact place unknown). They lived in both NYC and in Orange County, NY. They had a son, Richard Harsen Bussell whose wife, Antoinette Louise CARLOW died during childbirth upon which time, Richard Harsen BUSSELL gave up his children for adoption.
Henry Van Beuren, son of Beekman, born July 29, 1876 in NY and baptized there Aug 6, 1786 (NY Dutch Reformed Church) and died May 27, 1822 at Throggs Neck, Westchester (I believe this is now part of the Bronx)married an unknown HARSEN.
My search leads me to believe that this unknown HARSEN (may have originally been HARSIN) was related to Jacob HARSEN who worked with William VAN BEUREN at the NY Sanitary Commission. Jacob died unmarried.
Henry had a cousin Moses VAN BEUREN (son of Wiliam) born, probably in Brooklyn about 1805 and died March 25, 1890. Moses married Elizabeth MESEROLE, a widow who was born a RYERSON. The Ryerson family is married into the BUSSELL family with other family members.
Moses had a daughter, Phebe Ann, who married John Harsen Rhodes (president of the Greenwich Savings Bank) who, when the Bussell sons of Richard and Mary E. VAN BEUREN were left for adoption, actually paid for their boarding at the NY Orphans Home until they were sent west.
I am seeking information of any of the descendants of Henry VAN BEUREN/VAN BUREN and unknown HARSEN/HARSIN and/or descendants of Moses VAN BEUREN and his wife Elizabeth and/or John Harsen RHODES and his wife Phebe Ann VAN BEUREN.
It is possible that Mary E. VAN BEUREN was a daughter of Henry and unknown HARSEN. Mary E. VAN BEUREN BUSSELL died in Poughkeepsie, 27 Dec 1893. There is no record of her death in either the City or the Town records and the State Archives record microfilm is "missing" although the index shows her to have a record of her death at the state level.
Insight or direction towards reliable sources would be appreciated.
