Family Tree DNA is conducting a study of Anabaptists of Swiss origins which include the Herschberger, Hershberger,Hirschberger. For more details go the the below website.
This project welcomes all descendants of Anabaptists, but especially those who trace their origins to the Swiss Brethren of Switzerland from the early 16th century. Many later fled to other areas of north-central Europe such as the Alsace-Lorraine region of France and the Palatinate of Germany forming other groups before immigrating to the United States. Since the aim of this group is to determine the origin of the early founders of these sects, we welcome anyone with Anabaptist ancestors originating in these areas, whether Amish, Amish-Mennonite, Mennonite, Conservative Mennonite, Dunkard or Brethren. If you believe you have ancestors who came from these groups, you are likely to find your surname among those in the list and this is probably the Anabaptist DNA site for you. However, membership is limited to those with reasonable and credible evidence (such as paper trails) of descent from any of these Anabaptist groups. If you lack conclusive evidence but strongly suspect such connections, please contact the administrators.
