Re: Any Hartlebens Out There?
I will have to check my tree, but I think that you must be related to the Hartlebens from Rochester that I can't quite figure out how they are related to my family. We too are from Rochester, NY. I have documented your family on my tree though, so I was able to see that your Uncle Bob was called Roberth on the 1930 census (probably a census spelling error). I do know that your great great grandfather Fredrich was listed as "Frank" on the 1900 census. And, Minnie was the mother of nine children, of which seven were living in 1900. My relative is Louis Hartleben also from Rochester, NY. I guess the thought is that since there are only the two families of Hartlebens from Rochester, they are probably related. Hartleben is a relatively rare name. Also, my grandfather remembers referring to another family of Hartlebens in the Rochester area that was an "uncle" of someone older in his family. Your Hartlebens were more wealthy than mine :), and my grandfather remembers visiting them in their large house. According to one of the census reports, there was a servant living with one of your ancestors so this was probably the "rich uncle" my grandfather was referring to. Please let me know if your Uncle Bob has any information linking Louis to Fredrick.
