Matthew Hartrick, a widower of full legal age, a Smith, s/o John Hartrick a Smith, resided in St Philip parish, Bristol. He married Mary Ann Taylor, a spinster of full legal age, a dressmaker, d/o William Taylor a farmer. She resided also in St Philip parish. They married 25 Dec 1843 in the Parish church of St Philip & Jacob parish. Witnesses were Samuel and Elizabeth Ley.
The Bedminster township, Bristol, England census register for 1841 lists Matthew Hartrick, 50, blacksmith, b IR; William Hartrick, 15, b IR & Sarah, 10, b England. It is worth noting that the practice of the time is to round down ages & to note further that in 1851, Matthew is listed as aged 64. He is then married, his household including Mary Ann, wife, & dtr Sarah.
The Toronto, Canada census for 1861 lists Matthew, aged 75, a gunsmith, and his wife Mary Ann. Sarah, the daughter, is married to Reginald Yarnold [mentioned otherwise] & living in Whitby, ON.
