Dear Laura.. I just saw this and am working on finding info for you. Have you succeeded in doing any additional research? I'm very interested in the Hartselle, Alabama, location as it's where my friends Lee and Gracie are from..can't think of their last names right at this moment. They work as missionaries to Honduras out of the Methodist Church in Hartselle. Anyway, I found it extremely interesting that their town is called Hartselle since my maiden name is Hartsell. We are direct descendents of John Hartsell..there is some on Jonathan Hartsell in the book that our cousin Eunice Hartsell Sechler has written and it's possible we've communicated already by email (or phone?) but I have been in touch with so many thousands of people literally over the past few years either about ancestors or the work we do researching funding for fish farms and orphanages and clinics all over the world that I can only retain so much information in my pea sized brain.. I end up deleting much of it to make more space for the tons I am constantly downloading otherwise. Please forgive me if this is all a repeat of that information because if it is I couldn't recall or find it in memory..you might be able to bring it all back with a word if so. I won't spend time typing it all out for you otherwise but you can call me on my cell anytime and I'll look it up for you, scan whatever I find in the book and send it to you via email if it's in there. I don't believe Cousin Eunice would at all mind or think it a copyright violation if I am merely helping you learn about your own Hartsell ancestor. If I do recall my own ancestor John Adam was closely related to a Jonathan Hartsell who he went to stay with in Statesville and for some reason all this is coming back now as I'm remembering some research done for someone on Jonathan and his gravesite being found in Alabama. Did he go there during the Civil War? gosh, I have all this somewhere in the tons and tons of archives I've stored in my email so please do contact me and I'll dig all that up for you if you aren't the one who gave it to me to begin with..I'm only 60 so you can just imagine what the old brain is going to be like when I get to 80..so sorry for this long response. Hope you enjoy reading.
