Place of departure for Montana, South Par, Colorado; route traveled, across the plains via Bridger Pass; arrived at Bannack, June 14th, 1863. Occupation, miner. Residence, Helena.I found this information in a book called the Society Of Montana Pioneers.I also have a obit for W. J. Hartwig which reads as follows
"Following an illness of several months, W.J. Hartwig, pioneer resident of Helena, and father of W.B. Hartwig, Beaverhead county commisssioner and prominent Dillon business man, died last Saturday at Long Beach, California.
Mr. Hartwig was builder of the Hartwig theatre here in 1917.He had visited in Dillon on a number of occasions and had a host of friends who mourn his passing.
Surviving relatives include two sons, W.B. of Dillon, and Charles of Long Beach: two daughters, Mrs. L. H. Sutton of Seattle, and Mrs. A.H. McConnell of Long Beach, Calif:and several grandchildren among whom are William J., Thom and Annabelle of Dillon.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon in Helena.Mr. Hartwig of this city had been with his father in California for some time before his death and Mrs. Hartwig left Sunday for Helena.Mr Hartwig accompanied the body to Helena.April 29, 1939
