Re: George Harty and Martha Said
The Civil War Packet included a death certificate for George W. Harty. He was living a E. 1113 Bridgeport in Spokane. He died on 8 Nov 1909 from a cerebral hemorrhage as the result of a runaway accident. He was 68 years old, the son of Jacob Harty and Marg. Eslinger. His occupation was that of Expressman. The undertaker was Turnbull Co, and he was buried at Greenwood. His wife Sarah received pension benefuts until her death in 1923.There is not a death certificate for her but it indicates that her address was 1222 W. Sprague and although the death date is not there the notification date is June 4, 1923 so I assume she died sometime in May.
On the 1880 Census living next door to George & Sarah and their two children Dennis and Mahala are Hampton Said and his wife Mahala and their son Edward age 19.I also found them on the 1850 Census in Henry County, Baltimore Township. In 1850 Hampton Said, age 28, born in Ohio and his wife Mahala age 23 are shown with two daughters -- Martha A. age 3 and Sarah E age 1 all born in Ohio.I think they are probably her parents.
If you are interested in photocopies of the information from the Civil War Pension packet e-mail me and I will make copies for you.I can copy them at the local Family History Center for 5 cents a sheet.
