William HARVEY, b ca 1753; d 21 Oct 1821 Washington Co, PA; bur Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Burgettstown, Washington Co, PA. Headstone on Find a Grave, shows age 68. Rev War metal marker next to his headstone. Apparently no one has joined the DAR on him.
William's headstone is broken and was leaned up against a tree for the photo. Near him is a Jane HARVEY 1762 - 1824, same size headstone with same fancy style, could she be his widow? If so, why wasn't she listed as an heir in probate???? Hoping land records will show his wife's name.
Oldest son Robert handles the intestate probate procedures. Margaret wife of Archibald HUNTER; Jane wife of James GIFFIN; Mary wife of Andrew GIFFIN, and William. Son William "chooses" his guardian so he would have to be at least 14 or 16 and under 21. I believe this son, William, is my ancestor - mine was born 1805.
Father of the two GIFFIN husbands was Andrew GIFFIN (1752-1812) also had a Rev War marker next to his headstone. Love the less common names, and there is a lot of info out there on the GIFFIN family. Found Rev War info on Andrew GIFFIN and names of some of his officers. Did a control F search on American Revolution forum, here on GenForum, for some of those officers and found a list of privates under one officer that included four men named HARVEY (one named William.) These people all from Cumberland Co, PA and some went on to Washington Co, PA.
Anyone working on HARVEY in Washington and/or Cumberland Co, PA?????
I will be going to SLC in a few months and plan on working on this HARVEY line. Hope to learn some new clues, and glad to share information.
