Steve, The William Haslam I have is as follows- William James, born 1851/52, presumably in Manchester. Christened 16 Jan 1853 in the Collegiate Church of Manchester Cathedral. His parents were George and Ann Taylor. George was born abt 1815 - christened 11 Apr 1819. Ann was christened 24 Nov 1816 in Collegiate Church. She was born in Chester. Married 12 Feb 1843. Her parents were John and Elizabeth Taylor. In 1861 Geroge is listed as an engine smith. George's parents were James Haslam and Ellen Irvin. James was born abt 1781 in the County of Lancashire, probably in Manchester. He was a mechanic. Ellen was born abt 1781 in Ireland. She was christened 16 Sep 1792 in Saint Mary, Lancaster. Parents were Robert and Ann Irvin. I don't have documentation. Most of my information was from IGI or Ancestry. I no longer have access to British Ancestry.
There is another Haslam who might be related - Ann Haslam who married William Sandiford on 10 Oct 1842 in Manchester Cathedral.
Let me know if any of this fits with your William.
