Martha May Hassenplug Dorman Zimmerman Obitr

Martha May (Dorman) Zimmerman, 84, of 313 Main St. entered into eternal rest at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, where she was admitted Sunday.

She lived in New Berlin and Millmont before moving to Hartleton in 1999.

She was born March 17, 1920, in Laurelton, Hartley Township, a daughter of the late Elmer Ellsworth and Ida Mae (Krebs) Hassenplug. She and Daniel Lawrence Dorman were married June 26, 1942, in Millmont by the Rev. Joseph P. Sheesley. Her husband preceded her in death May 28, 1968. She and Paul Emerson Zimmerman were married June 27, 1981, in Millmont by the Rev. Henry F. Dorman. Paul died Jan. 31, 2000.

She attended Hartley Township schools.

Mrs. Zimmerman was employed by Pennsylvania House Furniture, General Interiors, Lewisburg, for 25 years before retiring in 1982. At the time of her retirement, she worked in the finishing department.

She was a certified nurse's aide at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, where she was a volunteer during the 1960s and 1970s.

Martha was well-known for the great pride she had in the appearance of her home.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Quinten L. and Connie L. Dorman of Millmont and the Rev. Henry F. and Linda L. Dorman of Hartleton; one son-in-law, Edward D. Shade of Shamokin Dam; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth E. Hassenplug of Cowan; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Lee Shade, on Aug. 11, 2003, and 10 siblings, Verna Glover, Ruth Lower, Robert, Clyde, Lincoln, Samuel, Elmer, Charles, Arthur and Woodrow Hassenplug.

Visitors may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, and from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at First Church of the Nazarene, 12 Market St., Mifflinburg. The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the church by the Rev. James A. Neimond, pastor of Stony Run Mission Church, Richfield.

Burial will be in Hartleton Cemetery, Hartley Township, Union County. Published in The Daily Item from 10/7/2004 - 10/8/2004.
