Hatfield Connection Mingo County, WV

Hello!My name is Wesley Anderson and I live in Chesapeake, Virginia with my wife and three children.I have been doing some family research on my mothers side of the family.She was born in Mingo County, WV.I have family from all over that area (Logan County WV, Martin County KY and Pike County KY)

My mother is a Preston.The town of Kermit is where my mom is from and it is right on the Tug River and KY is about 50 yards across the river.

I would love to know more about the Dempsey side.I have always been told by family that my 5th great uncle is William Anderson Hatfield (Devil Anse).The connection is through the Dempsey side.My family is buried on a farm named Dempsey Farm.It is located in Kentucky outside of Inez, KY in Martin County. My GGG Grandad is Lewis Dempsey who Married Nancy Stepp (Moses Stepp is my 5th G-Grandad)Lewis daughter, Lucinda Anne Dempsey, is my GG Grandma and married P. McCllean Preston.I know that a Bill Dempsey was with Anse Hatfield when they burned the McCoy house.I also know from family stories is that Jack Dempsey is a distant cousin.Any information would be great!Thank you!
