larry I think you have a few mistakes in your post. "Cap" Hatfield was one of the older sons of William Anderson Hatfield, also known as "Devil Anse" Hatfield. Devil Anse was the leader of the Hatfield faction during the feud with the McCoys. "Cap's" full name was also William Anderson Hatfield as he was named after his Father.
Cap took a active part in the feud and died in Logan County, West Virginia in 1930. My Grandfaher was a brother to "CAP" and "Cap" worked as a deputy to my Grandfather when he was the sheriff of Logan County.
