The errors you had were that "Cap" Hatfield was the Hatfield leader in the feud. He was not, his Father was the Hatfield leader.
William Anderson, AKA-Devil Anse, Hatfield was also a Captain in the Confederacy. He led a militia group known as the "logan Wildcats" during the war. The "Cap" Hatfield you are reffering to was given the nickname of "Cap" Hatfield for his rank and to keep from getting him mixed up with his Father since both had the same name of William Anderson Hatfield.
I am not depending on a movie for my information, it was passed down in family history as Devil Anse was my great grandfather and "Cap" Hatfield was my great Uncle.
