Kevin Costner played the role of William Anderson Hatfield who is also known as Devil Anse Hatfield. When someone refers to "Cap" Hatfield, our family and most historians take that as referring to Devil Anse's son who is also named William Anderson Hatfield.

When you used the name "Cap" Hatfield and stated he was the leader of the Hatfield clan, was the same as saying that Devil Anse's son was the Hatfield clan leader during the feud and will be causing confusion among persons researching the Hatfield family.
