Re: Hatz Family alive and well living in South Africa

An ancestor Georg Hatz(Hott) was born in the Palatinate region of Germany ca. 1700. He married a Magdalene Shantz about 1735 and they emigrated to the U.S., arriving in York November 9, 1738. I know he changed the spelling of his last name from Hatz to Hott as this was the closest phonetically. I am trying to pinpoint the town from where he originated, Baden is a strong possibility as there are a number of Hatz still living there. If you find anything let me know, hope this helps.
