A Nottingham (UK, just in case you didnt know) Hawkey

By Tom Hawkey September 22, 2003 at 05:27:33

Hi all,

I stumbled across this site (how many times has that been typed into this message board....!) and decided to make my presence known to all you other hawkeys.

I am 18 and live in Nottingham, but only for the next 24 hours as i am off to Liverpool university tomorrow. Which is exciting for me and very dull for you. Ah well. Anyway, being a hawkey comes with family, and there are in fact 6 of us:

Chris Hawkey (my dad) a doctor in nottingham
Gill Hawkey (my mum) a writer
Charlotte Hawkey (elder sister) another doctor, this time in london
Jennifer Hawkey (other sister) taking a post-grad clinical psychology degree in Leeds
David Hawkey (my Brother) bums around in Nottingham doing as little as possible.

My grandfather was also a hawkey (surprising that, isnt it?) but passed away in 1997. He was a doctor. His wife (my gran) is still alive and well and is retired in wantage (small village full of old folk that is near Oxford).

As you will already know if you have read the other posts, Hawkey traces back to the Cornwall area, and there are many gravestones of hawkeys there (a couple of which are Tom Hawkeys, which is just spooky to look at). There is also a church with many family names on the end of the pews, one of which is hawkey. It has the family crest. Sadly, i cant for the life of me remember where this is, but i will ask someone in the family and put directions up for anyone visting/living in that area.

Right. Time to shut up and go and pack for Uni. Im doing a psychology course by the way, notice any family links? :D

Tom Kingsley (stop laughing) Hawkey.
