T.C. married my gg grandmother, Electa Underwood Bethurum, a widow with two children. He was Sheriff of Dallas County 1850-54 and JP Pct. 1 1854-56. I have a photo which is the official Dallas County Sheriff Dept. photo. Have it scanned and can attach it to e-mail. The photo hangs in my courtroom in Farmers Branch, TX where I am also a JP for North Dallas County.
Also have other information. If you can find "The War of the Rebellion: A compilation of the official records of the Union and Confederate Armies published under the direction of the Hon. Elihu Root, Secretary of War, by Brig. Gen. Fred C. Ainsworth, Chief of the Record and pension Office, War Department, and Mr. Joseph W. Kirkley. Washington: Government Printing Office, 1900." This is a set of approximately 50 volumes and contains information about the war between the states.
Series I, Vol. 13, p 296 ff contains reports on the battle of Newtonia, Mo. Other references to Hawpe's Texas Regiment in other volumes.
Hopes this helps. I don't think I can attach a file to this message board, but you have my e-mail address. JT
