Re: O K so no one claims to be named or descended from HAWSEY...
I read your message a while back, and I have to agree with you.Are there any Hawseys out there?
There are actually quite a few, just not the ones we seem to be looking for.
Henry Hawsey 1793, from Franklin County, Georgia is my gggg grandfather. He migrated to Conecuh county Alabama by 1820, and had 3 sons: John, James, and Henry Jackson.
Now Henry and his family you can find, he married Catherine Skinner. There is little out there about James who married Ann Unknown. But John, now that is another story.I have been searching for years and they seem to have disappeared into thin air.
John was married to a Caroline Unknown, they had the following children:
Martha N. 1843
Rebecca Ann 1847
William T 1850
There are census records for them in 1840, 1860, and 1870.
After 1870 John and Caroline are gone, vanished. There is little out there concerning the children, they too have disappeared for the most part.Yesterday I did come find a 1900 census record for William T. in Butler County, Alabama.
My gg grandmother is Rebecca Ann, she married Franklin G. Weaver. I have found an 1880 census record for them and then nothing before or after. Her daughter Ada married Wiley Frank Laster of Conecuh County Alabama, there is info on the Laster/lassiters.
John and Caroline's daughter Matilda married Charles Barlow also of Conecuh County.
From the court house I have found that Caroline was a midwife still practing in the 1880's.I have also found Rebecca's marriage certificate.
Well that is what I have. I am hoping that someone out there has more information.
