Hayhoes of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

By Rachel Hayhoe July 07, 2002 at 01:57:37

My Hayhoe ancestors are from Bury St Edmunds. My g-g-g grandfather James Hayhoe (1824-1859) was one of twins and one of 8 children born to John and Lucy Hayhoe in Westley, Suffolk but most of the children and their ancestors are linked to Bury St Edmunds. John Hayhoe (bap 30.12.1792), also a twin according to parish registers, was the son of an Ezekiel Hayho and Sarah Murkin. Ezekiel was born between 1761-5 and was buried in Little Saxham in 1849, however I cannot find his parents - I managed to spend one day at Bury Record Office (I live in London)but could not find him in the Little Saxham registers.

If anyone has any members of this family in their tree or any information on Suffolk Hayhoes I'd love to hear from you and share what I have uncovered also. I am also interested in finding the descendants of any of the rest of John and Lucy's children - the eldest son John had at least 5 children and his eldest son Henry had at least 6.

Any information or suggetions greatly appreciated!
