Dear Rachel,

I am fascinatd to hear from you as I am investigating Bury St Edmunds Hayhoes, my wife's family!

Even if we are not related I would love to know what you know of the time and place, eg what was their work? were they Quakers?This is what I have found (in brief, below):

Look forward to hearing from you

I have had difficulties so far in finding direct relations of Henry Parker Hayhoe, but. research on his wife Emily Elizabeth Downes has been more promising. She married Henry Parker Hayhoe on 28 Sep 1858 at All Saints, Sudbury, Suffolk. Albert Edward had nine brothers and sisters living at Bury Street where he was born. His parents Harry P. (48) and Emily E. Hayhoe (43), both born in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, had this family in the year he was born:

        Emma (21 years) and Emily (20), both born Ballindon, Essex ;
Harry T. (19), Arthur P. (18) and Charles C. (17) all born
Sudbury, Suffolk; and Fanny (10), John (8), Oliver (6), and Nora
(4), all born Bury St Edmonds.

The census details Harry P. as a Manufacturer, his son Charles C. as a Grocers’s Assistant, and the youngest four children as Scholars.
