Hello Debra,
I am very curious about your Ann or Anna Hazel born between 1846-1852 in Caswell County, NC.I am a descendant of Bennett Hazell who settled in the part of Orange County, which became Alamance County in 1849. Bennett lived between 1796 and 1881, and he was the only Hazel that I know of in the area, as he had come from Culpepper County, VA to North Carolina.
Alamance County is just south of Caswell County; and in fact my Hazells were very close to the Caswell County border.
I have seen an Elisha Hassell (probably pronounced like Hazell) listed in Guiford County, which also attaches to Caswell on the western border of Caswell.I had attempted to find some attachment to my Bennett Hazell, as Bennett's father was named Elisha Hazel, but could not find any common ground for the two families.
I know that Bennett did not have a daughter, Ann, except for his daughter Claudia Ann Hazell Tapscott, who was my ancestress.
Best regards,
John Fox
