Re: Coulson Heath-GA 1788
I would like to get in on the Coulson Heath bit.My deceased wife, Jeanne Gallaher (1929-1983) was a descendant of Thomas Jefferson Heath (6 Mar 1834 Monroe Co. Ga - 20 Apr 1910 Arlington, Tarrant Co. TX buried at Johnson Station, Arlington, Texas near I-20)her great grandfather) and Julie Ann Thomas (1850 Merriweather Co. GA - 15 Oct 1877 Arlington, Tarrant Co. Texas - buried at the Johnson Station Cemetery.Thomas and Julie had five children of which only two lived to maturity.
Thomas Jefferson was the son of Coulson Heath (8 Aug 1788 GA - 25 Jun 1880 Atlanta, Cass Co., TX) and Jane Castleberry (20 Nov 1808 Putnam Co., GA - 1 Dec 1865 Linden, Cass Co., Tx).Thomas had one known brother named Henry E. Heath born 1839 who married Elizabeth J. Thomas. I believed they lived in Columbia County, Arkansas. This is where Thomas and Julie married 4 July 1866.
After the death of Julie Thomas, mother of my wife's grandmother, Thomas J. Heath married Eliza Caroline Castleberry and they had eight children.Eliza Castleberry was the niece of Thomas J. Heath's mother, Jane Castleberry, making Eliza and Thomas Jefferson Heath first cousins.
Eliza Caroline Castleberry was the daughter of Simeon Castleberry (6 Nov 1806 Putman Co., GA -- 28 October 1882 in Colorado County, Texas)and Amanda Mills Long who he married 3 Mar 1840 in Talbot County, Georgia.
The site of Thomas Heath's Texas farm is located just west of the General Motors Plant in Arlington, Texas. The location of the farm house could have been located a few years ago by the location of a two lines of trees from the street to the the location of the house.
Little is really known about Thomas Heath. His daughter lived to be almost 95 years, and was living at my home in 1962 when she died. She remembered well her father, but really had little to do with him after she was grown. She rarely wanted to talk about him. In fact she sued him for her part of her mothers estate many years after Julie'sdeath. The problem with Nellie Heath Kirby and her father probably stems from the loss of her mother when she was only ten years old, and the fact that her father remarried to a woman that Nellie apparently didn't get along.
Thomas Heath and Julie had five children, only two to live to marry and have a family. His second marriage produced eight children, none of which maintained any close relationship to the two children of the first marriage to have families. I was able to obtain information from a descendant of the second marriage who provided information from a second family bible.
I have tried to piece together a history of the Heath family but have had little success. After the death of my wife in 1983 I must admit to losing some interest in her families. We had been married 34 years before her death.Would appreciate any informaion that might help complete a history of the Heath family.
