Re: Mary S. Heffinger, b. 1873, Virginia
I am not where I can get my info on this matter; however I will tell you what I can remember. My father's name is Paul L. Heffinger, his father's name is Okley Heffinger and his fathers name is Singltin Heffinger. " I am not sure about the spelling of Singltin"I have a very old family bible that gives me info back to 1872 or 1873.All of wich takes place around Dry fork, Va..I have gone to the state libairy and reserched as far as I could. I saw George but was unable to connect the two so far. I am thinking that george and my great great Grandfather my have been brothers or something like that.I will check out Heffelfinger and see what I can come up with.I rember running across that name but did not know what to do with it.there is alot of Heffinger in patrick county in the late 1800's and early 1900's but the records are hard to read.Where in north carlina do you think they may have come from? Some time ago I corsponded with a man my age '28' who also thought we where kin. Its not wide soread name at all.In Danville there are several familes with that name some are kin some I am not sure of. Some pernounce it Hef'finger and some pernouce it Heff'inger I am sure if its traced back far enouf they will cross.I can't prove it but there is a small town in Germany called Heffner that we may have come from.By the way where are you from?
M. L. Heffinger
