Hi,
No I have not figured out who Amanda's parents were. I thought her parents were Jacob Grandstaff and Mary Koontz.
But that would not make her Peter Helsleys granddaughter.
Amanda (Mandy) was listed in Peter Helsley's will as being his grandaughter. Amanda's husband (John Nicholas Trook, married in 1854) signed for her inheritance.
In 1856 Joseph and Jeremiah Helsley sell 20 acres to John N. Trook - land is located on Cave Ridge (land that Martin Dillinger sold to Peter Helsley).
John Nicholas and Amanda Trook leave Shenandoah and go to Stark County, Ohio. They must have sold the above land back to the Helsely family as in 1879 the house and lot are for sale - the house and lot conveyed to J.L. Helsley by J.N. Trook and wife.
Everything related to Amanda is the Helsley family except when Amanda Grandstaff got married she said her father was Jacob Grandstaff and Rebecca.
Thanks for any help or suggestions on where to research.
Carole
