Thank you for replying, Chris. When dad came to America, he had to Americanize his name to Andrew. He had several siblings, Barbara in particular was closest to him (Barbara seems to be a commom female family name), and one was named Josef. Dad spoke little of family members and never returned to Germany as WWII seems to have caused a major family break. Only Barbara kept in touch. My sister especially is in the process of re-establishing connections to the family in Stubig and Bamburg, Stubig being in the Black Forest. Family now also lives in Schesslitz and other areas as well. Several years ago, a relative I didn't know I had (Pankratius Beller) died and I recieved some $ as did other family members I didn't know I had. These are the names listed in the legal documents of all those in the Hemmer line: Barbara Hemmer(4), Bernhard Hemmer, Heinrich Hemmer, Kunibert Hemmer Robert Hemmer, Wilhelm Hemmer, Agnes Hemmer. Dad never spoke of earlier family emigrants, but now I am trying to fill in the holes as all of us on this site are. Perhaps the info you have is a start. In my first message, I said I thought my Grandmother's name was Gebhardt. I now have reason to believe it was Geringher. Hope the spelling is correct. I'll have to get more from my sister. Wonder if Bill Hemmer on CNN is any relation? :-)There's also a Hemmer Construction in Cincinnati, OH. Hope to hear from you again.
