Re: Heniken family/Wabash Co. & White Co.,IL
Mary, I have some information on your posting. My grandfather was Benjamin F. Heniken. He had two brothers, John "ED" Heniken who was born in 1859 and died in 1922, and Jim Heniken, don`t know when he was born or died. My grandfather , was born in 1873 and died in 1922, while attending his brothers funeral, Ed Heniken. Many of the Henikens are buried in an old cemetery in Illinois, near Grayville, Mt. Carmel area. The cemetery is called the Antioch Cemetery, is located on land donated by the Heniken family. Some of the Henikens buried ther are John Edward b.1859, d. 1922; Benjamin b.1873, d. 1922, Lida W. b.May 1857, d. Oct 1895; George W. b. April 18, 1831, d. Feb 27, 1879; Margaret, George`s wife, b.sept 25, 1834,d.Oct 7,1895; also, another John Heniken, born Sept. 26,1859, d. sept 7,1890. I think George and Margaret Heniken were the parents of Benjamin, Jim and John Edward Heniken. My mother, was the daughter of Benjamin Heniken and Lucy Ann Lamar Heniken. She was born in 1911 and died in 1990. The Henikens were farmers and at one time had a sizable farm. I think they also had a sister Julia, b. April 6, 1864, d. Jan. 3, 1940, who married Alonzo Kingsbary. They are also buried in the Antioch cemetery. There was also a little church on this site which was active from 1870-1976, it was demolished in 1980.
