Re: George Washington Henry family of Tyler Co. W. Va.
His parents 1880, Grants, Pleasants, WV
Henry, David 52 blacksmith born VA with both parents born VA
Eliza J. 52 born WV with both parents born @V
Daniel 26 Engineer in (and I can't read what it says)
Walter 20 works in shop (probably the blacksmith shop)
Hugh 8 (was this the Hugh who signed George's death certificate?)
1870 Williamsburg, Wood Co., WV
Henry, David 41 blacksmith $500 all in familiy born VA
Belle female 14
Now I know that I did find George in 1880, knew it was the closest to matching the facts, but his siter Belle is in his house in 1880:
1880 Morgan District, Monroe, Monongalia, WV
Henry, George 25 VA VA VA
Laura 23 VA VA VA
Jesse 2 daughter (Maggie J.)
Murphy, Gilly 19 female (F marked over M) servant
Bell Emma 21 servant (could this bee his sister above?)
This is the closest match I can findin VA or WV for this family.
1860 Ripley P.O., Tyler, VA (West VA had not been created yet)
Henry, David 31 blacksmith $486all in family born VA
Laura J. 31
Now again we have a problem. I don't find David on the 1850 census.
1850 Dist. 65, Wood Co., VA
66 66 Rachel Henry, 48 $800 all in family born VA
Morgan 19 m farmer (could this be David?)
Geo. S. Green 25 farmer $400 (grandson?)
Laura C. Green 18 (wife of George or his sister?)
Charley Uhl 21 farmer $400 (grandson?)
Frank could be a nickname for Francis and there are a couple of Francis Henrys, but which one? I'll look at hem later. My Internet connection is very slow. The 1840, of course, will not show anything to do with Scotland.Do you have anything other than legend that indicates Scotland?
