Re: Barzilla Herritage
I find no evidence that any of the Arkansas census of 1890 survived. Can you tell me where you found the 1890 records for Brinkley, AR?
There is a W. H. Herritage (does not spell out given names), wife Sarah, son Richard, and laborer Jos. Maddingly in Spring Creek Twp., Phillips Co., AR in the 1880 census. This census indicates that W. H. was born in MS, his father in SC, and mother in AL.Sarah and her parents born in AL, and son Richard born about 1868 in MS.My interest in this family stems from the laborer Jos. Mattingly, whom I believe to be my great grandfather Joseph Kemble Mattingly.
The hardest part about tracking the surname Heritage is that everybody and his dog starts out their ancestral quest by stating that they want to find their heritage, so an internet search turns up way too many hits.
