Hi Jan,
Thanks for writing.
I think the Carolina Hero that was my great grandmother must have been a daughter of one of the children you list (perhaps Carl or Eric Johan).Since my grandfather Carl Forsberg was born in 1895,I'm thinking his mother would have been born around 1870-80 (not 1850 as I first imagined).
Where were you able to find all these names and dates? Did you use a Swedish genealogy site?Since my grandfather is dead now, andmy mother at 80 unfortunately doesn't remember much, I don't know how to find Carl's birth information. If you could point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.
Coal miners? Ugh. What an awful thought. I didn't even know they had coal miners in Sweden. My great grandfather, the one married to Carolina Hero, worked for the railroad. The only thing I know for sure is their name and that they lived in Hallefors.
Did you travel to Orebro? What is the area like? How big a town is Hallefors?
Do you have any info on the "French connection?", e.g. the heritage of the name Hero which I think is Belgian.
I'm full of questions for you! It's good to meet you; surely we are distant relatives going back to this same Hero family from Hallefors.
Please do write again.I live in Ocala, Florida, now but I'm from Jamestown, NY.
Sandi
