Heron Family - 14th to 16th Centuries

By Robert Salkeld April 11, 2005 at 03:35:43

I am trying to find out more about the Salkeld family of Corby Castle, Cumberland by checking back against marriages mentioned in the the Heralds Visitations or elsewhere.
Is there anyone who might be able to assist me by confirming and providing the details of any or all of the following marriages: -
1)Thomas Salkeld of Corby Castle born Ca 1385? m Christiana dau of .... Heron of Chipchace circa 1405? Is there any evidence that would corroborate the dates and the name of Christiana's father, and his place of residence?
2)According to some information that I have to hand, Margaret Heron, dau of John Heron of Chipchace (d 1591) and Margery nee Grey (d 1613-4) married a Thomas Salkeld of Corby. Yet there seem to be no suitable Thomas Salkelds of the appropriate generation. Thomas Salkeld might have been from the Northumberland branch of the Salkeld family, or Margery Heron might have been mis-identified either by generation or by branch (could it have something to do with (1) above?). Again, does anyone know anything of this, or have any clues that would tend to identify either or both parties to this marriage?
3) A long shot - I am trying to establish whether it was possible that there was another Salkeld/Heron marriage involving a John Salkeld and possibly a Heron girl from any branch of the Heron family probably circa 1520? Has anyone seen any evidence of this.
