Dear Sue

Thanks very much for your reply. My Heron ancestors came from Minnigaff (in Border Scotland) in the 1700s. They established properties in various parts of Jamaica, later settling inthe parish of Manchester, Jamaica. William Heron and his wife, Agnes (nee Dalziel) had nine surviving children,of which we have records of definitely three of their sons being in Jamaica (via land patents and land titles). There is also indication that another two sons (twins) might have been in Jamaica for a short time and returned to Scotland, where they settled down and had families but this research continues. Two of sons who settled in Jamaica married Jamaican-born wives and had children, they also had parallel familes with their mistresses. The children of succeeding generations from the wives and mistresses returned to Scotland for their education and subsequent marriages and one or two returned to Jamaica to take up their "plantation legacies" while others remained in Scotland ot England.

From on-going research, we feel that the afore-mentioned Heron family of Minnigaff branched into Canada and Ireland. I paid a visit in 1985 to Galloway and Dumfries counties in an effort to trace the many"Heron oral traditions"which we have within various branches of the "Jamaican Heron family". It was a very interesting and worthwhile visit froma research standpoint. Please keep in touch.

Sincerely

Bev.
