My wife is related to the Herons at Maryfield Holywood
Direct line descendent is my wifes brother James Heron

Nile Heron (a second cousin)some years back traced the Family back to 1643 when the Herons came over from Scotland to Killinchy Co Down (I think it was a John Heron)
the family line is through his son Patrick

The connection in Scotland was never traced

The Maryfield family have their roots in the
Ardigon and Tullyveery townlands near Killyleagh Co Down


The family had an involvement with the formation of the Ulster Bank (1st Chairman)
also Heron Clinic Royal Victoria Hospital
